The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) has noted with concern the comments by the Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development about the audit outcomes of the human settlements department. This concluded audit outcome followed all the necessary procedures and was signed off following detailed engagement with the management, accounting officer and audit committee of the department on 31 July 2022.

PRETORIA – Auditor-General (AG) Tsakani Maluleke today reported “a gradual upward trend” in the national and provincial government audit outcomes, and called on government to instil a culture of accountability in the public sector to improve service delivery to the citizenry.

Deputy Auditor-General (DAG) Vonani Chauke, as the accounting officer of the institution, has effected the dismissal.
