The Auditor-General of South Africa ("AGSA") is established in terms of section 181(1)(e) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Act No. 108 of 1996)("the Constitution") as a state institution supporting constitutional democracy. The constitutional functions of the AGSA are set out in section 188 of the Constitution and section 4 of the Public Audit Act, 2004 (Act No. 25 of 2004)("the PAA").

  The AGSA hosted a successful Records Management Seminar at the Emperors Palace on 03 April 2012. Among other guests who attended this event were the Acting National Archivist Ms. Mandy Gilder, COGTA Deputy Director General Mr. Muthotho Sigidi and the ECM Product Manager from SITA Mr. Walter Siwele. The AG Mr. Terence Nombembe was the guest speaker at the event and he emphasised the importance of recordkeeping. Delegates from the three tiers of government were represented and included CFOs and Records Management Practitioners.
