AGSA notes with concern comments by MEC for Human Settlements

The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) has noted with concern the comments by the Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development about the audit outcomes of the human settlements department. Auditor-general presents outcome of legal investigation to Parliament

PRETORIA –The office of the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) today presented to the Standing Committee on the Auditor-General (Scoag) the outcome of the independent investigation and legal review into allegations of ‘corruption, unethical and unprofessional behaviour’ made against the auditor-general (AG), Ms Tsakani Maluleke, by the AGSA’s chief people officer (CPO), Mr Mlungisi Mabaso.

CPO Mr Mabaso dismissed with immediate effect

PRETORIA – The Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) has, following an independent disciplinary hearing against the chief people officer (CPO), Mr Mlungisi Mabaso, accepted the findings of the chairperson and the recommendation of Mr Mabaso’s summary dismissal. Deputy Auditor-General (DAG) Vonani Chauke, as the accounting officer of the institution, has effected the dismissal.
